They’ve done it again! All our groups crossed from Europe to Asia on Monday, October 7, from Greece to Turkey, from Rhodes to Marmaris. A total of 13 swimaddicts completed the challenge!
Our first group was Always Somewhere, consisting of Jordi Cervera, Rohan Crouse, Ariadna Moreno, Daniel Ortiz, and Jorge Pérez, representatives of Spain and UK, with a time of 6 hours and 24 minutes. Later, the Alia team, made up of Jeremias Mateo and Tomás Meca (Spaniards without wetsuits), Paulo Torres (Portuguese with a wetsuit), and Emma Vockins (English without a wetsuit), completed the crossing in 6 hours and 45 minutes. César Augusto from Brazil and Lluís Juncà from Barcelona were part of the Allotria team, completing it in 7h 46 minutes and 7h 47 minutes respectively. Also from this group, Denis Zapevalov (Russia) crossed the finish line in 7h 57min.
All groups departed from Windy Beach in Rhodes but did not land at the same point in Turkey; the first made landfall on the Turkish island of Kizilada, the second at Cape Kalabak, and the third at Cape Goek. During the journey, the swimmers encountered a very calm sea until the final stretch, where the east to west winds and currents diverted them from their trajectory.
On Thursday, October 10, François made a spectacular solo crossing in 7h 40 minutes, one of the shortest routes to Kizilada Island, just 17.8 km!
Next year, more and better at Rhodes-Marmaris. We have already finalized the dates, and you can find all the info here.
