This week we have been in Greece and Turkey to close the preparations for the first edition of the Rhodes - Marmaris. As you know, the Rhodes - Marmaris is the crossing from Greece to Turkey, from Europe to Asia, that Neda el Món is preparing for next October 2023.

The site visit has consisted in closing all the permits with the authorities of both Greece and Turkey and reaching an agreement with our boats partner. All set and ready for the next challenge of Neda el Món!

For the second consecutive year we have 3 top swimmers in our top crossing, the 14th Neda el Món Illes Medes per la Marató de TV3 by ZOGGS that we are organizing on May 7, 2023. Sunday October 23rd was the big day for Natalia Chuich, Alexander Nikitin, Benoist Grossmann and Louis Trincano. After not being able to try in September, the weather gave us a break and they were able to leave Isla Tarifa at 10h02min in the morning. And they made it!

With an excellent time of 4 hours and 58 minutes, the 4 swimmers enjoyed an excellent sea and favorable currents. Deserved award after so much waiting! Nada el Món has conquered Africa also this 2022! Congratulations swim addicts!

Keep growing in Medes. This year is the swimmer Judith Navarro who will join us in the 14th Neda el Món Illes Medes per la Marató de TV3 by ZOGGS that we organize next May 7, 2023. Judith is an international open water swimmer, champion of Catalonia and Spain on several occasions and has participated in multiple European and World Championships, being in several of them among the top 10 classified.

It is an honor for Nada el Món that Judith can share strokes with us. Apart from participating in our swim, Judith will present the medals to the winners of each category and will be available to take pictures with her on the beach of l'Estartit.

The Strait of Bonifacio crossing by Neda el Món & ZOGGS will take place throughout the spring-summer of 2023, with the 4 previous training sessions in Barcelona, and which will end with the crossing in the last week of September 2023. Like the Strait of Gibraltar, the Strait of Bonifacio has become one of the great challenges for open water swimmers in recent years. The Strait of Bonifacio is the sea channel that separates the island of Corsica (France) from the island of Sardinia (Italy) and connects the Tyrrhenian Sea with the western part of the Mediterranean Sea. Before we start talking about how to make your son or daughter fall in love with open water swimming we must clarity that the main goal of participating in such events should be having fun! In all of our crossings we include a Junior Open Water Crossing so that from an early age they learn to love the sea and find enjoyment in swimming in an open water environment. 

In that regards, the Medes Junior is the kids version of the Neda El Món crossings. It is a leisure and free activity set up to promote open waters from a young age. In this year's event, every kid will be able to register for one of the crossings of 50m, 100m and 200m. And as it happened in previous swims, if parents want to join their kids while they swim, they can do so.

We have made it again! Nada el Món conquered the Cap de Creus for the second time this season 2022. If the first was Pere Dalmau in June, this time it has been 3 predators of the sea as Xevi Usas, Pep Serrano and Jaume Adell who achieved it last Saturday October 8, with a spectacular time of 10 hours and 51 minutes to swim from Port de la Selva to Roses. You are made of different stuff, swim addicts!

Spectacular success of Nada el Món in its first edition of the Crossing of the Strait of Bonifacio by ZOGGS. Of the 15 swimmers who prepared by Neda el Món during the whole season, 15 achieved the challenge!

There is still work to be done! Only 3 of the 6 groups who had prepared to cross from Europe to Africa had the opportunity to swim. The bad weather conditions (winds, currents, fog and storms) did not allow to have 6 good days among the 17 days that Neda el Món had a window in the Strait. Nada el Món and ACNEG (the association that manages the crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar) have reached an agreement to have a second window between 16 and 25 October 2022. This will now be the opportunity for the remaining groups!

Open water, holidays and Croatia: a spectacular triumvirate for an unforgettable experience! This year 2022 Neda el Món has completed the first edition of SwimHolidays Dubrovnik. And we did it with a group of spectacular swimaddicts and spectacular companions. From various origins, but with a common hobby: open water. And with a spirit in common: to have a great time surrounded by the magnificent scenery that the coast of Croatia provides us.

Congratulations to the 12 people who were part of the Dubrovnik group! For the swims, but especially for your behavior and your companionship.

We will repeat! In Dubrovnik, in Croatia or anywhere where the sea lets us practice our favorite sport: open water!

We are on fire! After 2 years stopped by the pandemic, on June 16 the first of Neda el Món's groups for this year 2022 crossed the Strait of Gibraltar. Our Madrid swimaddicts Javier Girón, Fernando de la Sotilla, Antonio Gómez-Rodulfo and Manuel Díaz spent 5 hours, 10 minutes and 23 seconds completing the route between Isla Tarifa and the Moroccan coast ... what a cracks! Felicidades campeones!

In July, another group, and the first fortnight of September, 5 more!

Our swimaddict Pere Dalmau completed last Sunday, June 26, the entire lap at Cap de Creus (30k) with a spectacular time of 8 hours and 56 minutes. Pere left Port de la Selva at 5h 52min and arrived at Platja Canyelles (Roses) at 14h 48min, enjoying the spectacular places that Cap de Creus always offers us.

Pere had the constant support of Neda el Món's sea team, both before, during and after the challenge.

A record that will be hard to beat, no doubt! Congratulations Pere!

Unfortunately, the forecast for Sunday May the 8th is getting worse and we will have Tramuntana during the whole day. With the new forecast, we don't see any options for swimming in the Medes. We’ve valued that with the paddle surf team and kayaking team and they won’t be able to get to the Medes either. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the safety of swimmers in these conditions.

We also don't want to waste your time. Knowing that we will not be able to do anything attractive enough, we prefer to postpone the crossing until next June the 5th. We know that there is no ideal solution, but we think that this decision will allow you to enjoy and, above all, not suffer. Surely on June 5 we will be able to enjoy the open water, the Medes, a better sea and a better temperature, both outside and inside the water. The whole program is as it was, but on June 4th and 5th. As always in these cases, we reopen registrations.

Obviously this decision is very sad for us. The work behind it is terrible! But we will enjoy it in June for sure! Thanks for your understanding!

On Saturday previous the event, Neda el Món and a group of swim-addicts did the test for Medes. And we did it thinking especially about the temperature of the sea water. And we swam without troubles, smoothly. The sea temperature on the Costa Brava is currently 15ºC. And the forecast is that by the weekend of May 7 and 8 it will rise to a maximum of 16ºC. Taking into account this scenario, we have obviously asked ourselves questions. And we've taken those questions to the experts. Can we normally organise the 13th Neda el Món Illes Medes per la Marató de TV3 by ZOGGS normally?

The unanimous answer was yes, but with some recommendations for swimmers:

• Only those who are very, very adapted to swimming in cold water can do so without wetsuit.
• As a general rule, everyone should wear wetsuits to avoid being exposed to cold water for too long time.
• It is also recommended to use neoprene gloves, socks and even swimcap for those who suffer the most from the cold.
• You need to keep calm when entering to the water. The feet, hands and, above all, the head will suffer from the cold at the initial moment. You need to relax, not get overwhelmed and keep swimming calmly because this feeling will go away in 3 or 4 minutes. Then you can even enjoy the cold water.

These recommendations will allow you to swim all distances without any problems, including 5.1k. If you feel more comfortable with shorter distances anyway, no problem if you want to switch to shorter distances. Just ask us at info@nedaelmon.com and we will proceed with the change.

On the weekend of April 16 and 17, Neda el Món organized the first training camp of 2022 for swimmers who have registered for the challenges of Gibraltar, Bonifacio and Cap de Creus. It was an intense two days with an informative briefing, a pool session and a sea session in Lloret de Mar. Neda el Món organizes 4 training camps for these swimmers throughout the season. Next stop, El Masnou and Arenys on May 28 and 29, with pool and sea sessions again.

From the beginning, in 2010, the Neda el Món Illes Medes per la Marató de TV3 by ZOGGS has been the only popular 100% charitable crossing in Catalonia.  From now on, the 2022 edition, we want it to be the most sustainable too, from environmental point of view. And we want it to be sustainable in 1) mobility and 2) waste management:

1. Sustainable mobility, using motorized vehicles on land as few as possible, encouraging public transport, optimizing the motorized vehicles and promoting non-motorized transport: walking, cycling, using skateboards…
2. Sustainable waste management, recycling plastics, paper and organics. At the departure area and the arrival area you will find yellow containers for the plastic packaging and cups, blue containers for paper, and brown containers for organics. At the food and drink supply during the crossing, all swimmers will get a recyclable cup which they must use so the Neda el Món staff will refill it each time. Swimmers must keep that cup.

Obviously, in order to achieve the most sustainable possible event, we need the collaboration of all swim addicts. Altogether we will do it!

As you, swim addicts, all know, for the last 13 years Neda el Món has given 100% of the Neda el Món Illes Medes by ZOGGS benefits to the television and radio programme of the TV3 and Catalunya Radio Marathon. The 31st edition of the TV3 Marathon will be held on December 18th 2022 and will be dedicated to cardiovascular diseases. In developed countries, cardiovascular diseases are the main death cause, and they are cause of death of 32% of the total world population. Diseases which involve heart and blood vessels are chronic. This means that the patients’ quality of life is directly affected, and the disease generates dependency, often  complications, and a huge amount of healthcare and socioeconomic costs. Altogether it has become a public health concern.

Since 1992, when the first edition of the solidarity program took place, TV3 and Catalunya Radio have collected nearly 225 million Euros. Since 2009, Neda el Món and its swim addicts provided 23.415 Euros. Solidarity mustn’t stop! In May, let’s enjoy and swim for the TV3 Marathon; let’s swim for the cardiovascular diseases!

At the end of the 5.1k and 3.9k swims of the 13a Neda el Món Illes Medes per la Marató de TV3 by ZOGGS, and during the awards and the Closing Paella, One Day Dj's will entertain us with their funkky, disco and dance versions of songs from the 70's, 80's and 90's. Dj Dani Homs and the drummer and percussionist Carlos Viñals are two expert musicians, the best to end an unforgettable day in L'Estartit. To make it more attractive and, at the same time, make the start of the 1.7k crossing of the 13th Neda el Món Illes Medes per la Marató de TV3 by ZOGGS safer, Neda el Món has modified the circuit of the said crossing and the start will not be in the open sea but between the bigger Meda and the smoller Meda, where the waters are calmer, especially while the swimmers wait for the moment of the start. At only three months to go for the 13th Neda el Món Illes Medes per la Marató de TV3 by ZOGGS, the registration rhythm is faster than ever. More than 300 swim addicts, who want to take the most of an exceptional crossing on May 8th, 2022, have registered already. In 2016, 962 swim addicts got together at our most emblematic crossing. This year we want to be more!! More swim addicts means more ambience, more fun and more revenues for the TV3 Marathon, which this year will be dedicated to cardiovascular health. February the 4th is the last day to register with reduced price to the 13th Neda el Món Illes Medes per la Marató de TV3 by ZOGGS. This crossing is a unique and very special open waters event. Very special for two reasons: because it is the only solidarity open waters event from Catalonia which destinates 100% of the benefits to the TV3 Marathon, and because it takes place at the Medes Islands Natural Park, a superlative natural environment.

From this year 2022 onwards, Neda el Món is going to transform this open waters competition into a great event: You will be able to choose the length of the crossing according to your swimming possibilities, there will be a crossing for kids, there will be an attendance briefing, the best marks will be displayed, music, DJ, entertainments for the kiddies, a meet-and-greet with the best swimmers, and we will finish with a paella.

Clinics are back in Neda el Món! During the 13th Neda el Món Illes Medes per la Marató de TV3 by ZOGGS, on May 7, 2022, in Estartit, we offer a 2-hours clinic, where we can learn and experience those additional techniques that complement open water swimming with our professional swimmers Pol Gil, Guillem Pujol and Eric Vilaregut. Moreover, as we do, we can enjoy the wisdom of our coach and crack Jonathan Gomez, who will direct the techniques of front crawl in open water. Here you have all detailed information.

Neda el Món, along with our coach and at the same time the Director of Swim Emotions, Jonathan Gómez, restarts the pool training sessions for all our swimmers. You can choose one day a week or two, in Barcelona or Tiana in winter and in the 50m outdoor swimming pool at Masnou in summer. Third top swimmer to join us in the 13th Neda el Món Illes Medes per la Marató de TV3 by ZOGGS that we are organizing on May 8, 2022. Eric Vilaregut is an international open water swimmer who has participated in various events such as the Junior's Open Water World Cup in the Netherlands (2nd position), the Junior's European Championship in Italy (top 10), the Israel World Cup, the International Circuits of France, Italy and Portugal and the Junior European Championship in Malta

It is an honor for Neda el Món that Eric joins Pol and Guillem and can share strokes with us. Apart from taking part in our crossing, Eric will be one of the speakers at the Open Water Clinic that we are organizing on Saturday the 7th at 5pm. After the crossing, he will bring the medals to the winners of each category and he will be available to take pictures with you during the Meet & Greet on Estartit beach.
